Guest speaker: Professor Kate Huppatz

Kate Huppatz is an Associate Professor in Sociology at Western Sydney University and joint Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Sociology (Sage). Prior to joining WSU Kate completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Sydney (2007-2010) where she also studied for her honours degree and PhD in sociology (2003-2007). Kate is interested in exploring the role of culture in the production and reproduction of inequality. Her ongoing research is concerned with work and employment, social class, households and embodiment.  She has produced two edited books (with co-authors) and a sole authored monograph titled Gender Capital at Work: intersections of femininity, masculinity, class and occupation (Palgrave Macmillan UK, 2012). She is currently working on her fourth book.
